FAQs

Our Diamonds

In essence, Lab-Grown diamonds are diamonds in every way that counts. The key difference? They’re crafted in a lab, not mined from the Earth. But they represent so much more: a pledge to sustainability, accessibility, and ethical sourcing.

Absolutely! Lab-Grown diamonds are identical to mined diamonds, boasting the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and physical properties as their natural counterparts. The primary difference lies in their origin and the age of the carbon atoms. Only through using advanced technology, we can determine whether a diamond is from a lab or mined from the Earth.

The CVD Method

In the CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, a tiny diamond seed is placed in a vacuum chamber filled with carbon-rich gases. Once heated to extreme temperatures, the gas transforms into plasma, causing carbon particles to break free. These particles settle on the diamond seed, allowing it to grow into a magnificent gem.

The HPHT Method

The HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) technique involves placing a diamond seed in carbon—the very material diamonds are made of. Subjected to intense heat and pressure, this method replicates the natural conditions under which diamonds form. As the carbon melts, it envelops the seed, and when it cools, a stunning diamond is born.

Yes! Lab-Grown diamonds offer an ethical alternative to traditional diamonds. They don’t inflict the same environmental damage as diamond mining and are free from the ethical concerns such as blood diamonds, labor practices, community displacement and economic exploitations sometimes linked to natural diamonds.

Lab-Grown diamonds showcase the same exceptional hardness and durability as natural diamonds, earning a perfect score of 10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. This means they are highly resistant to scratching and wear, making them ideal for everyday jewelry pieces like engagement rings, earrings, and bracelets.

Generally speaking, Lab-Grown diamonds are more budget-friendly than natural diamonds of comparable quality and size. These cost savings stem from their shorter production time, reduced environmental impact, and the controlled manufacturing process involved. However, prices can fluctuate based on factors such as quality, size, color, and market demand.

Yes, they come in all different shapes, color and inclusion grades! Lab-Grown diamonds can exhibit inclusions just like natural diamonds. This is a result of the growth process involved in their creation. During production in a controlled laboratory setting, fluctuations in temperature and pressure, impurities in the growth chamber, or interruptions can lead to the formation of inclusions. While inclusions are less common in Lab-Grown diamonds than in natural ones, they can still occur and vary in type, size, and visibility.

The quality of Lab-Grown diamonds is assessed using the same criteria as natural diamonds—the renowned 4 C’s: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight.

The globally leading independent certification bodies, that also grade mined diamonds are IGI and GIA. An IGI or GIA report is the universal language of trust in the gemological world, ensuring your diamond's quality and authenticity.

Lab-Grown diamonds undergo a careful transformation similar to natural diamonds, ensuring they shine beautifully in every piece of jewelry. The process starts with cutting, where skilled gem cutters shape the rough diamond to enhance its brilliance. Next, the diamond is polished to eliminate imperfections and maximize its shine.

After polishing, experts perform a thorough quality assessment, evaluating the diamond based on the 4 C’s: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight. This ensures only the finest diamonds are selected for our jewelry.

Lab-Grown diamonds not only provide an ethical and environmentally friendly choice, but they also offer incredible value for money without sacrificing quality.

Our Jewelry

Yes, Lab-Grown diamonds are real diamonds. They’re chemically, physically and visually identical but without the ethical concerns of mined diamonds.

Yes. All our diamonds of 1 carat or larger are accompanied by certificates of reputable independent institutes such as IGI or GIA, which involves a considerable amount of work. As a result, grading diamonds smaller than 1 carat is not cost-effective. For smaller stones, we rely on our suppliers' guarantees that they meet at least DEF color and VS clarity standards.

All diamonds used in IRALIS jewelry are colorless (DEF), which is the highest grade within the color spectrum. This means that a trained gemologist might detect slight traces of color under laboratory conditions, but in a jewelry setting, even experts will see no noticeable color.

We exclusively use diamonds with at least VS or VVS clarity, meaning "very slightly included" or "very very slightly included." Any inclusions in these diamonds are only visible under 10x magnification and cannot be seen without it.

IRALIS exclusively uses Lab-Grown diamonds and gemstones to achieve its vision of sustainable and ethical luxury jewelry without compromise.

We use 14k & 18k gold which is regarded as the ideal choice for fine jewelry, offering a balance of durability and high gold content. Higher gold concentrations can be too soft, leading to jewelry that is more susceptible to scratches and deformation. (On request we can also use recycled gold)
